Let’s face it, we’re all procrastinators. Sometimes it’s just hard to do the task at hand and you would rather do something else, something usually less important. You know what – that’s better than watching TV when you don’t get *anything* done.
So we decided to give you some ideas what you could be doing when you can’t get the main thing done.
1. Go to the gym
Getting and staying in shape should be on your goals list anyway. If you can’t concentrate at the moment, do some pushups, run or whatever you’re doing in the gym. Maybe you get your energy and focus back when you’re tired of physical activities.
2. Clean up
It’s another task you’ll have to deal with sooner or later. Even if it’s lower on your priority list, push it to the prominent position now when you can’t do some other things. And if you’re working space is messy, that could easily be the reason of procrastination in the first place.
3. Prepare a meal
If you can’t concentrate on work, maybe you could cook something delicious. This is especially useful if you’re not living alone and you can also surprise someone with your dish. Just be careful – this kind of productive procrastination could easily make you fat.
4. Call your mom/family
If you haven’t talked with your family for some time, now may be the chance to do that. They’ll appreciate and you’ll feel better for doing the right thing. Heck, you can expand the list to call friends you haven’t been in touch recently. Just don’t extend yourself too much – you don’t want to talk for hours on the phone.
5. Walk
Maybe all you need is a short walk to clear your mind. Take some 15 minutes or half an hour to walk around the block and try to clear your mind. I know this helps me concentrate – maybe it could work for you, too.
Finally, don’t keep checking your email, Facebook and what’s cool on TV. That’s everything but productive and you’ll feel bad about yourself later on…
