The Diamond Resorts International® MasterCard® is designed to get its users closer to Diamond Vacation Ownership. To that end it offers a period of 0% APR on down payments of any such “package,” a sign-up bonus of 2,500 bonus Diamond Plus Points, as well as the ability to earn additional points by using the card on everyday purchases. The card has no annual fee.

How It Works?
Sign-up bonus: 2,500 Diamond Plus Points™ after your first purchase.
Earn points: Get 2 Diamond Plus Points™ per dollar spent on Diamond Resorts purchases (excluding down payments); and 1 Diamond Plus Point™ per dollar spent on everything else.
Redeem points: Points can be redeemed either for statement credits toward Diamond Resorts International Purchases, or toward airfare and car rental purchases of $50 or more made within the last 120 days.
Concierge service: As part of the deal, cardmembers get personal assistance via telephone, including recommendations and reservations for dining, travel, hotels, entertainment and more.
APR: It is either 15.24%, 19.24% or 22.24% variable on purchases. There is 0% APR for 6 months on any Diamond Vacation Ownership interest down payment. For balance transfers, there is the 0% introductory rate for 15 months on balance transfers made within 45 days of account opening, after which a variable APR of 15.24%, 19.24% or 22.24% will apply.

Pros
- Beyond Diamond Resorts, points can also be redeemed toward airfare and car rental purchases. It is nice to know that you are not stuck to a single company to redeem your rewards.
- 0% promo APR for 6 months on any Diamond Vacation Ownership interest down payment – enables interest free purchase of a dream vacation.
- 0% APR on balance transfers for 15 months – if you can get the lowest rate (15.24%), you could move balance from some other card with a higher APR to this one.
Cons
- For most part, 0% APR is limited to balance transfers – it would be nice to see it being available on all purchases. Or we are asking too much from a card that has no annual fee?
- Foreign transaction fee – you are better off bringing some other card when travelling outside of the U.S.
Is This The Card For You?
The Diamond Resorts International® MasterCard® is a niche product, and as such, most users won’t be getting it. Simply put, there are many other great cards to choose from, and except if you are into buying Diamond Vacations (and other services offered by Diamond Resorts) – you should look elsewhere for your next credit card. That being said, we must add that this card has no annual fee, so it is basically free to use. In addition, it offers a period of 0% APR on balance transfers, and a sign-up bonus of 2,500 Diamond Plus Points. You’ll have to determine whether that’s something you could benefit from, though.
