Kuala Lumpur is one of the must-visit cities in South-East Asia. It merges traditional and modern, making sure there’s something everyone can find interesting. Here are 5 things that will make your stay in Kuala Lumpur a memorable experience.
1. Shopping

You can’t miss the shopping in Kuala Lumpur as many things are cheaper, plus there are some local things to try out. One of the best places to visit is on Jalan Petaling Street in Chinatown, where you’ll find a daily market that sells food, clothing, bags, DVDs, CDs, jewelry, bags and much more.
Furthermore, you should also check out the Suria KLCC mall, situated underneath the Petronas Towers, as well as Bukit Bintang and Sungei Wang Plaza – two malls merged together.
2. Visit Chinatown

Make sure to walk around Chinatown as it’s an interesting place with street stalls, interesting old-fashioned tea and coffee houses, Chinese herbal remedies shops, markets, gold shops and more. It’s a vibrant place both at night and during the day, and we’re sure you’ll love it. Location wise, it’s right next to the Pasar Seni monorail station.
3. Check out museums and the National Mosque

There are many museums in Kuala Lumpur, but here are few you shouldn’t miss:
- National Museum – featuring exhibits and dioramas on Malay history, Chinese culture, vintage automobiles, flora and fauna and more.
- National Art Gallery – which has more than 2,500 pieces of art, from both Malaysian and international artists.
- Royal Selangor Visitors Center – where you can see artists making the famous Royal Selangor pewter.
National Mosque is also a must-visit as it’s one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. Make sure you dress appropriately and take off your shoes before you enter.
4. Visit Agong’s Palace

Agong’s Palace, which is also known as Istana Negara, is the residence of the Malaysian King (called the Agong). It’s interesting to note that the Malaysian King actually changes every few years and is chosen from one of several prominent families. The Agong’s Palace has an enormous garden, tennis courts, a swimming pool and you can even watch the Changing of the Guards ceremony, just like in London.
5. Go up KL Tower and Petronas Towers

If you want a great view of Kuala Lumpur, go to the KL Tower and Petronas Towers. The former is the world’s fifth tallest structure, while the latter used to be the world’s tallest building at one point. The view from both buildings is spectacular and something you’ll be telling about your friends.
